Hurricane Racing Owner Overview - Josh Waring

Josh Waring has always been on the fast track to success, using an innovative approach to everything he takes on.

Waring and his family moved from Miami, Florida to Concord, North Carolina in 1993 in the wake of Hurricane Andrew, which took away their life as they knew it.  Keeping the mindset that everything happens for a reason, Waring and his family began racing go-karts and dubbed their race team as 'Hurricane Racing'.

While participating in go-kart competition and attending Concord High School, Waring came to the conclusion that he wanted to complete high school early and get a jump start on his career in auto racing.

Waring successfully graduated from Concord High School a year early  in 1998 and was accepted at the University of North Carolina in Charlotte on full scholarship.  Josh graduated UNCC with a degree in Mechanical Engineering with an emphasis on Motorsports in the year 2002.

In the fall of 1997, Waring and his family decided trade his go-karts for a Legends car.  After accomplishing much in go-karts he felt like it was time to pursue another division of racing, and that he did.

1998 was a great year for Waring and his Hurricane Racing team. Together they won the Legends Car National Points Championship along with the North Carolina State points championships in Semi-Pro as well as, the Young Lions National Championship.

Life changed for Josh Waring in 1999. Attending college full time and not having the time to devote racing as he liked, he bought a tire machine and started cutting tires to make some extra money and stay in touch with the Legends car series.

Upon graduation from UNCC, Josh went into business full time, setting up and repairing Legends and cutting tires.

Jumping ahead to 2003, Waring and Hurricane Racing competed to win the Caraway track championship in the Pro Division in Asheboro, NC.  In 2004, Josh had the racing bug again.  He came home from Orlando with the

Pro division Winter Nationals Championship in February, won the Lowe's Motor Speedway Pro division Summer Shootout Championship, and the Winter Hear Championship at Lowe's Motor Speedway.

At the end of the year he was on such a roll, Waring and his team decided to go to the Dirt Nationals in Indiana although he had never raced dirt. To the surprise of all in attendance, Josh dominated the race and brought home the 1st place trophy.

_With the dirt championship in Indiana and his  _finish in the National Asphalt Races in Las _Vegas, Josh was crowned the Grand National _Champion for 2004.  All the championships _were great, but the best experience was _meeting his future wife, Angie in 2004.  Since _then Josh has raced some and has even tried _his hand at Roadsters, being runner up in the _National Points Competition for the King of _Ovals in 2007.

In October of 2007, Josh took some well deserved time off and he and Angie were married.  They now reside in Concord, NC with their dog, Diesel.

Josh's interest in driving has changed now that he is married and has additional responsibilities.  He still loves being involved with the Legend Series and has expanded his business by hiring additional people to help in their areas of expertise.  Josh enjoys the accomplishments of his clients on the track, knowing that he had a hand in their success.
